Candidates sought for the Hennepin Healthcare Board of Directors

Hennepin Healthcare is actively looking for interested individuals to serve on the Hennepin Healthcare System, Inc. (HHS) Board of Directors, beginning in January 2024. Hennepin Healthcare System, Inc., is a public corporation operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of Hennepin County.

 

HHS mission

“We partner with our community, our patients and their families to ensure access to outstanding care for everyone, while improving health and wellness through teaching, patient and community education, and research.”

 

Primary responsibility

The board members’ primary responsibility is to oversee and guide the HHS organization to achieve its safety net mission related to quality, strategy, finance, and managerial performance. The board is also responsible for self-monitoring and advocacy. The board fulfills its responsibility by adopting specific outcome targets to measure the organization’s performance and by regularly reviewing and monitoring programs and activities against the organization’s mission and values.

  • Medical staff governance
  • Management performance
  • Assessment of governance effectiveness

 

Qualifications

HHS board members possess a high degree of experience and knowledge in relevant fields and possess a high degree of interest in the organization and support for its mission. Hennepin Healthcare is currently looking for candidates with expertise in:

  • Governance of healthcare system or large businesses
  • Construction/ RE development
  • Financial management and investment
  • Strategic planning
  • Human resources
  • Community advocacy
  • Lived experience in historically marginalized groups

 

Terms and time commitment

  • Board members are eligible to serve up to three successive three-year terms (9 years total)
  • Meetings are held bi-monthly from 12:30 - 4 p.m.
  • Annual one-day strategy retreat
  • Typically, members serve on one board committee
  • Additional meetings, as necessary
