What participants are saying about the Mary Ann Key Book Club

“Octavia Butler's work has had deep effects on me, and hearing this conversation helped me understand more about how my life and relationships with other people have changed because of reading her work.”

“I gained different views to aspects of the book as compared to how I thought about it from my own reading. I continue to struggle with how I (personally) can actually impact/assist the changes we need and the sadness over whether that's even possible. None the less, I continue to feel motivated to look for those opportunities.”

“This book was powerful when I read it more than 10 years ago and I was thrilled to experience it again. My brother and father read it at my urging years ago and it has themes that we still discuss when together.”

“I'm really enjoying the book selections and discussions. The program is broadening the types of books that I read and exposing me to new authors I didn't know about.”
