Hauler Appreciation Day at HERC is back after a 2-year hiatus due to the covid-19 pandemic. This Wednesday, September 21, all drivers are welcome to stop for some refreshments and meet staff from the HERC operator, Great River Energy HERC Services, and Hennepin County’s Environment and Energy department. We’ll be out there from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to thank our haulers for their business.
Effective since September 1, 2022, all trucks entering the HERC and Brooklyn Park Transfer Station (BPTS) facilities must have proper truck identification numbers. This means that all trucks must be licensed and are required to have a Hennepin County assigned number with current license plate numbers and a 7-county regional license decal clearly visible on all trucks. Please refer to the attached diagram for reference, which can be found in the Solid Waste System Hauler Operating Manual. We encourage you to reach out to our hauler’s hotline 612-348-7813 or haulers email at haulers@hennepin.us to request truck numbers for any truck without proper signage. Please do so as soon as possible to avoid any delays at the scale houses or denied entries.
Due to safety concerns and space constraints on the tipping floors at the Brooklyn Park Transfer Station (BPTS) and HERC, there are operational changes that impact loads requiring manual off-loading (unloading trucks by hand). This is primarily loads arriving in box trucks.
BPTS: Loads requiring manual off-loading are no longer accepted at BPTS. We apologize for any inconveniences this causes haulers using BPTS.
HERC: Loads requiring manual off-loading at HERC will be directed to either Bay 4 or 5. These trucks will be accepted while the facility is open. Only one truck will be allowed to manually off-load at a time. Loads requiring manual off-loading may not be required to use Bay 4 or 5 when delivered to HERC on Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays, depending on the discretion of the tipping floor attendant.
Haulers who do not comply with these new guidelines will be turned away from the facilities. If you have any questions, please contact the haulers hotline at haulers@hennepin.us or 612-348-7813.
The hauler driveway at HERC will be under construction for repairs and to improve drainage of storm water. This is a 4-week project that should be completed in early October. Please use caution when entering the facility. Truck traffic will be rerouted at times but both scales will be functioning. Drivers are urged to go slow as there will be construction equipment and workers on the road. Thank you for your cooperation.
