At Highway 12 in Independence
County Road 92 bridge and realignment work continues
Two weeks ago, crews finished pouring the bridge deck for the new County Road 92 overpass. This week, crews will construct and pour the approach panels connecting the bridge to the new road.
Once poured, the concrete will need to cure or harden to the desired strength before we finish the remaining bridge construction work to include constructing new concrete bridge railings, striping the new lanes and painting the bridge.
All underground work on County Road 92 is complete, and crews will continue grading the new roadway. We expect this work to take a few weeks to complete.
Following the grading work, crews will complete the remaining construction activities, including constructing curb and gutter, paving and striping.
Weather permitting, we expect to complete all roadway work and reopen County Road 92 by late October.
Highway 12 reopening next week
A part of the project that required us to close Highway 12 is nearing its end.
We recently completed paving, but we still need to work on:

placing permanent striping and rumble strips,
-
installing wayfinding signage and guardrails,
-
shouldering and grading ditches,
-
installing streetlights and
-
seeding and installing plantings at the roundabout
While the roadway may look like a surface you can drive on, there is a lot more to be done before it is drivable, and we will have many crews on site in the area.
We anticipate completing the remaining work next week and reopen Highway 12 on Thursday, September 15. Look for signs on site to provide the latest updates.

South leg of County Road 92 to close
When Highway 12 reopens, we will close south leg of County Road 92. This is the segment of County Road 92 that is currently west of the new roundabout location.
The closure will allow our crews to continue bridge and realignment construction activities on County Road 92.
Both legs of County Road 92 will be closed until late October. When crews are done with the project, both legs will align at the new roundabout.
