Drainage and repaving project begins this Monday

On Monday, July 11, we will begin a two-month drainage and repaving project on County Road 10 between County Road 19 and west of Rebecca Park Trail (County Road 50) in Corcoran.

This work will increase the longevity of the roadway and reduce drainage issues. You will also enjoy an improved experience when driving or biking.

Culvert replacement first

We will begin construction by replacing a culvert located west of Walnut Lane.

Weather permitting, we anticipate completing the culvert replacement work in two weeks.

Repaving to follow

After the culvert work is complete, crews will repave County Road 10 between County Road 19 and west of Rebecca Park Trail.

Instead of a traditional mill and overlay, we will use a cold-in-place recycling method. Cold-in-place recycling is a roadway improvement process that involves removing and grinding up existing road asphalt and reusing it on-site, mixing it in with new asphalt.

This method takes longer than a traditional mill and overlay, but it will help the pavement last longer in a cost-effective and more environmentally-friendly way, as it requires fewer new materials to be brought in.

Weather permitting, we anticipate the repaving work to take up to six weeks to complete.

Expect a two-month detour starting Monday

When construction begins, we will close County Road 10 to through traffic between County Road 19 and Walnut Lane, and you will need to use a detour to get around. The detour route for through traffic is:

  • County Road 19
  • Rebecca Park Trail

Using the signed detour will keep you and others from experiencing additional delays and getting frustrated. It also helps local streets stay safe for the people who live, work and play in the area.

People walking, biking and rolling will need to use the detour route or other alternative routes outside the construction zone.

Local access during the closure

During the culvert replacement work, we will keep County Road 10 open for people needing access to their homes and local destinations. However, there will be a hard closure at the culvert location.

During the cold-in-place recycling, we will maintain access so that you can still get to your home, place of work or local destinations, but how you gain access to these places will change depending on where crews are repaving. We will have signs and flaggers on-site to inform you of access changes.

Accessing Corcoran Community Park

We will maintain the Corcoran Community Park access points on County Road 10 and Rebecca Park Trail throughout construction.
