Common Questions

What should I do in HMIS, in Coordinated Entry Event, if the client is NOT housed?

If a client exits your program without housing, do the following in HMIS in Coordinated Entry Event:

1. Go to the section: "Client Exited Program Without Housing."

2. In the "If not housed, reason" dropdown, select the most accurate reason.

3. Enter an End Date.

View a step-by-step guide of the correct process:

Do NOT change the "Referral Result."

The Referral Result is only about the process of getting the referral. The client's housing outcome does not change the referral result.

Here is what Coordinated Entry Event should look like if the client exits your program without housing because you lost contact:

Assessors

A Quick Overview of Shared Housing

Shared Housing

In shared housing clients get their own room to sleep in, but share common spaces like the bathroom, kitchen, and living room.

Shared Housing

Some clients get referred to shared housing. During the assessment we recommend that assessors explain how shared housing often works:

  • Clients get their own room to sleep in.
  • Bathrooms are SHARED
  • Kitchens are SHARED
  • Living rooms are SHARED

Help clients make an informed choice by describing how shared housing works.
