Greetings! We hope our newsletter serves as a resource for
staying connected to Hennepin County activities and staying updated on county
news and services.
As always, please reach out with questions, comments, or to
learn more about how to get involved.
You don’t have to go to a county office to manage your benefits. Please connect with us online or by phone if you need help paying for groceries or basic needs.
How to get support
We want to hear from you! Participate in developing Hennepin County’s Zero Waste Plan by telling us about your experiences in recycling, composting and ideas to reduce waste on our new engagement site. Residents who register on the website can engage with other community members, post ideas, and stay informed as the plan progresses.
Our vision for zero waste
Hennepin County’s zero-waste vision is a system where all materials are designed to become resources for others to use. Our definition of zero waste is preventing 90% or more of all discarded materials from being landfilled or incinerated.
About the Zero Waste Plan
The Zero Waste Plan will complement the county’s newly adopted Climate Action Plan and provide the foundation for the 2024 Solid Waste Management Master Plan. A draft of the Zero Waste Plan will be presented to the county board in November 2022.
Sharing the engagement site
Please promote the engagement site to your family, friends, and your community. You can share this article with them, promote organically through your own words, or share posts from our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
Prepare for road construction
If you haven’t already, you will be seeing more of those orange construction signs along county roads. But, you don’t need to wait until the projects have begun to learn more about what is going on in your community.
The county’s transportation activities map is interactive resource that allows you to zoom in and narrow down to a specific type of construction or maintenance activity and click on a project to learn more.
These activities have varied start dates and issues like weather and emergency needs may have an impact on actual projects completed and timing of work. So, make sure you sign up to get email updates for your county roads.

The city of Minneapolis is hosting their first Neighborhood and Election Day. An event to gather in your community, learn about becoming part of the association, and meet other local organizations and groups in our own neighborhood. Come play at the park, meet neighbors, have a treat, meet board members and find out what is happening in the area.
We will be set up on baseball diamond #4 AT Pearl Park. Members of HPDL will be there along with the Music Lab, New Creations Food Shelf, Buy Nothing, Minneapolis Sidewalk Repair Hunters, pick up bee lawn seed and more. In case of rain, we will be in the multi purpose room in the Pearl Park building.
We are also looking to fill 3 HPDL Board Member seats. If you are interested in becoming part of this community in a more active way, email office@hpdl.org by May 10th with a description of why you want to become a board member and a brief bio. We are encouraging new board members to be present at this event to meet the neighbors.
