Greetings! We hope our newsletter serves as a resource for staying connected to Hennepin County activities and staying updated on county news and services.
As always, please reach out with questions, comments, or to learn more about how to get involved.
Saturday, February 19th The Legal Rights Center and I hosted a timely discussion on what holistic alternatives to youth incarceration could look like in Hennepin County. Informed by the lived experiences of youth in the criminal justice system and the legal expertise of the LRC, our panel discussed the case for why we need to pursue new holistic models of care and rehabilitation for our youth who need support. If you missed the conversation, please see the recorded discussion here.

As you may know, the Midtown Greenway Coalition has been able to get permits for some public art in the Greenway, and we organize our annual Greenway Glow Arts Festival in the corridor.
Midtown Greenway Coalition like to work on getting even more art in the corridor, and would like to know what the community would like to see.
Please help by taking the short survey.
Please also feel free to share with others. Midtown Greenway Coalition would especially like to hear from community members who live in greater Phillips and Powderhorn neighborhoods.

During our National Association of Counties (NACo) Legislative Conference, I co-authored this resolution with Commissioner Monique Baker McCormick of Wayne County (Detroit) to fight to improve the abysmal state of Black homeownership in the United States. Barrier ridden financial systems and racial covenants make Minneapolis amongst the premier in the nation for difficult access to homeownership for Black residents. With the support of my national peers the resolution Passed! |
