Share your vision for a better Sunset Drive
Hennepin County, the cities of Spring Park and Orono, and Three Rivers Park District, are working together to reconstruct Sunset Drive (County Road 51) between Spring Street and Shadywood Road (County Road 19).
The existing roadway and underground utilities have not been updated for more than 50 years. Sunset Drive in its current design is not well suited for today's transportation uses and stormwater management best practices. The best way to address all of this is through a road reconstruction project.
When we reconstruct Sunset Drive in 2023, we will replace the aging roadway and underground utilities, as well as add curbs and gutters. We also want to make improvements that meet present and future needs of the corridor, including:

Improving traffic flow and roadway function at key intersections

Improving trail access for both present and future needs

Enhancing features for people walking, biking and rolling, including traffic calming at key crossing locations
Join us for an open house
We want to hear from people who use Sunset Drive for , visit local destinations, travel the lakes area, get to shopping and health care and any and all other reasons.
This upcoming open house is an opportunity for you to share your experiences and vision for this new corridor and help inform a design that will best reflect community needs.
