Hennepin County Sheriff to Announce New Inmate Education and Training Program
September 16, 2021 – Minneapolis, MN - Hennepin County Sheriff David P. Hutchinson along with several partners will unveil a new program that allows inmates to take training and education courses while serving time at the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility.
What: News conference announcing the program
Who: Sheriff David P. Hutchinson, Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson, representatives from Minneapolis Public Schools Adult Basic Education
When: Monday, September 20th at 10 am
Where: Outside the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility in downtown Minneapolis
Why: The goal of the program is to help inmates improve their lives while in custody and decrease the recidivism rate which is approximately 35%-37% in Minnesota.
