Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Investigating Water Rescue at Minneapolis Hotel

May 20, 2021 (Minneapolis) - At approximately 2:30 p.m. today, the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, Minneapolis Police Department (MPD), Minneapolis Fire Department (MFD) and Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) paramedics responded to a call of a potential drowning at the Best Western Normandy Inn and Suites, 405 8th St., Minneapolis.

A four-year-old boy had been removed from the hotel pool and was unresponsive. MPD, MFD and HCMC paramedics performed CPR on scene. The boy was taken by ambulance to HCMC where he is in critical condition.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office Water Patrol and Detectives Units are investigating the incident.
