As an educator, you know how important it is that young people continue learning for fun during the summer. As you connect with students and families through the end of the school year and the summer, please share these resources with them.

There are many ways youth and their caregivers can participate in summer learning at Hennepin County Library. We have opportunities for youth on summer break, as well as those enrolled in summer school or other structured learning programs.

Finding great books

Encourage your students to keep reading over the summer months, a time when reading skills may decline. Reading for fun is one of the best ways to help youth develop a lifelong love of learning and reading. 

Ask us for reading suggestions by email. We can help find books to match the interests and abilities of any reader. We also have a variety of formats including eBooks, audiobooks, and graphic novels. We'll email you suggestions that may include authors, specific titles or book lists.

Explore our book lists for teens and book lists for children, as well as our staff reviews for teens and children. We have suggested reading for fans of adventure, fantasy, funny stories, nonfiction, and more!
