Access to Public Safety Facility Modified During Final Phase of Derek Chauvin Trial

April 16th, 2021 (Minneapolis) - Several security and safety measures will be implemented at the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility (PSF) during the closing arguments, deliberation and verdict phase beginning April 19, 2021. This will include modifications including a potential lockdown of the PSF.

Public access to the PSF will be strictly limited while certain public services will be closed all together. Please review the list below for information regarding access.

  • Posting bail

Beginning April 19th and until further notice, bail will be taken at the following locations.

Ridgedale Regional Service Center

12601 Ridgedale Drive, Minnetonka, MN 55305

Monday – Friday

8am – 3pm

Public Safety Facility

401 South 4th Avenue, Minneapolis, MN 55415

Note: The Public Safety Facility will be closed M-F 8am-3pm

Monday 3pm – Tuesday 8am

Tuesday 3pm – Wednesday 8am

Wednesday 3pm – Thursday 8am

Thursday 3pm – Friday 8am

Friday 3pm – Monday 8am

In the event that the Government Center/City Hall campus is locked down, report to GATE V on the corner of 5h Avenue & 5th Street. Tell the deputy/officer you are here to post bail for an inmate being held in the PSF and state the inmate’s name. After verification, a deputy will escort you to the bail window inside the jail.

  • Court Ordered fingerprinting

Court Ordered finger printing will continue to occur as ordered. Court Ordered fingerprints will be taken at the following location beginning April 19 – May 28:

Ridgedale Regional Service Center

Tuesdays and Thursdays

9am – 4pm

  • Public fingerprinting

Public fingerprinting at the Public Safety Facility will be closed beginning April 19 – May 28. Public fingerprinting locations can be found by navigating to https://mn.gov/boards/cbc/process/fingerprinting-locations.jsp

Property Pick-up/drop-off (after receiving approval to retrieve property from an inmate)

Public Safety Facility

401 South 4th Avenue, Minneapolis, Mn 55415

Hours of property pick-up are:

Daily between 7am – 10am

In the event that the Government Center/City Hall campus is locked down, report to GATE V on the corner of 5h Avenue & 5th Street. Tell the deputy/officer that you are here to pick-up a property item from an inmate at the PSF. Tell the deputy/officer the name of the inmate and the property item you are picking up. After verification, a deputy will escort you to the property pick-up/drop-off window inside the jail.

  • Placing funds on an inmate’s account

You can place money in an inmate account by going to the website www.accesscorrections.com and following the instructions on the website.

  • Medicine disposal

The medicine disposal site in the HCSO Public Safety Facility will be closed beginning April 19 – May 28.  Please use other disposal locations throughout Hennepin County.  Alternate disposal locations can be found at  https://www.hennepin.us/medicine
