About 85% of the materials in a typical demolition or remodeling project could be salvaged and kept out of landfills. But currently, only about 30% of building materials are actually reused or recycled.
Choosing deconstruction can help change that, and homeowners in certain cities may be eligible for grants to offset the higher costs of deconstruction.

Ash trees make up about 20% of Minnesota's tree canopy, and Hennepin County is particularly vulnerable when it comes to the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) epidemic. Hennepin County is partnering with neighboring counties to slow the spread of EAB, and we're using infected trees as an energy source for generating electricity. Thank you to the folks at Environmental Wood Supply for their innovative approach to a tough issue.
