This is the premier event of every January in District 5!
Join Bloomington Parks and Recreation along with area sponsors and embrace the season during the 16th Annual Winter Fete celebration. This year, Winter Fete activities and special discounts will take place throughout the City from Saturday, January 18, through Sunday, January 26. New this year is the first annual Winter Fete Medallion Hunt!
Be sure to check out the annual International Ski Jumping Competition, the Pond-Dakota Winter History Festival, and many other great activities and events during the Fete.

The EdenPrairie Fire Department is recruiting volunteer firefighters and hosting an Open House event to provide information about serving the Department and City.
Successful recruits will become Duty Crew Firefighters. Few part-time jobs afford the chance to help others, serve the community and qualify for a pension, all while providing an essential public service.

Registration for the eighth annual free Valentine’s Day weddings event opens on Friday, January 24. Up to 12 District Court judges will perform free marriage ceremonies over the noon hour on Friday, February 14, at the Hennepin County Government Center. Watch for registration details on the District Court website.
It has been a wonderful year hear at the County. There is still so much work left to do in 2020 and beyond, but so much has been accomplished by our dedicated staff and the passionate advocates who help guide our leadership on the board. Here are some of the highlights from the last year.
Bloomington let out both a sigh of relief and happy cheers to have Oxboro Library open again after a renovation. If you haven't been over to see it yet, it's a must-see for 2020.
KSTP picked up my efforts to connect domestic abuse victims with legal representation and support services earlier, giving them a faster track to healing and strengthening our most vulnerable families. Thanks to KSTP and Central Minnesota Legal Services for getting the word out about this program.

Dropped by to chat with Chief Henthorne and Richfield police officers at "Coffee with a Cop".
Joined a panel of county staff at a Hennepin County Child Well-Being Community Forum. It is our goal to provide the community with the information, resources, and transparency they need to protect our most vulnerable children.
It poured rain all day, but the people who attended the Memorial Day service at Honoring All Veterans Memorial were truly inspiring. What a blast.
Attended the Bloomington Human Rights Commission's Welcome Meal at Martin Luther Campus. These ladies were impressively festive.
Toured Better Futures' warehouse. They are a non-profit specializing in providing training and employment to men post-incarceration.
The Hennepin 5K was a huge hit. Just look at those dinosaurs!
Hennepin County Sheriff Dave Hutchinson and I made the rounds to city council meetings around District 5 together. Maintaining strong connections with our city officials has been a shared goal of ours.
ISAIAH hosted a community forum at Dar Al Farooq Center in Bloomington. I'm proud have such a resilient and vibrant community here in District 5.
I was so happy to speak at the National Organization for Women (NOW) Conference in Bloomington. It was an incredible experience to be around so many empowered and ambitious women.
Bloomington neighbors were nothing short of astounding during National Night Out.
Speaking at a fundraiser for the Hennepin History Museum. As a board member, it has been so exciting to see the organization change and grow under the leadership of new Executive Director John Crippen.
I joined the new graduates of Partners in Policymaking for discussions about public policy and addressing major gaps we need to close for our disabled friends and neighbors. It was wonderful to connect with so many new advocates and share ideas for helping our local government serve everyone better.
