Starting as early as 7 a.m. Sunday, October 6, participants in the Twin Cities Marathon events will be using several county roads in Minneapolis.
Closures
While a majority of the marathon route uses other roads, there are a few county road intersections and segments that will be closed for the marathon.
Intersections
- Lake Street (County Road 3) at the West Calhoun Parkway intersection
- Lyndale Avenue (County Road 22) at the West Minnehaha Parkway intersection
- Portland Avenue (County Road 35) at the 6th Street and East Minnehaha Parkway intersections
- Washington Avenue (County Road 152) at the Portland Avenue intersection
These intersections will remain closed until event participants pass through. All other segment of these roadways will remain open.
Road and bridge segments
- Cedar Avenue (County Road 152) between East Minnehaha and East Lake Nokomis parkways
- Franklin Avenue Bridge (County Road 5)
These segments will remain fully closed until event participants pass through. All other segment of these roadways will remain open.
Access during the event
People driving should use alternate routes to get around the closures. Sidewalks and intersection crossings will remain open for people walking and rolling, but expect intermittent closures at crossings when runners are passing through. Once event participants have passed through the area, the roads will reopen fully.
