County Road 112 in Long Lake and Orono

Second phase of reconstruction nearing completion

The second phase of Wayzata Boulevard (County Road 112) reconstruction is a few weeks from completion.

Over the next few weeks, crews will work to complete final construction activities to include:

  • Final paving and striping
  • Installing permanent road signs and street lighting
  • Placing sod and seed
  • Installing guardrails

Final paving begins tomorrow

Starting tomorrow, crews are scheduled to pave the final layer of asphalt, or "wear course," between Wolf Pointe Trail and Highway 12, as well as side street entrances and driveways.

Paving will be completed under traffic. Below is the anticipated schedule:

  • Wednesday, July 17 - Crews will pave side street and driveway entrances along Wayzata Boulevard.
  • Thursday, July 18 - Starting at 5:30 a.m., crews will pave from Wolf Pointe Trail to Luce Line Trail overpass. Crews will maintain one lane for each direction for the majority of work. There will be a 2 to 3 hours during the day where traffic will be down to a single lane.
  • Friday, July 19 - Starting at 5:30 a.m., crews will pave from Luce Line Trail overpass to Highway 12. Traffic will be down to a single lane during paving.

Flaggers will be on site to help people driving through the area when the road is down to a single lane. Residents and businesses should expect temporary access impacts and closures while crews are paving on Thursday and Friday.

Due to the nature of this work and the weather, the exact start and finish dates may vary. Weather permitting, final paving is expected to be completed in three days. Permanent striping work will follow ten days after paving is completed.

Clean-up work to follow

Once final construction activities are completed, you will see crews working on minor construction tasks, such as clean-up work and removing construction-related signs, cones and equipment. These activities will have little to no traffic impact.

Staying safe

For your safety and the safety of our crews, we ask that you continue to obey all posted speed limits, stay alert and slow down where crews are working. Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation as we wrap up reconstruction.

We will send an update to inform you when the project is completed.
