Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Hires Veteran Journalist Edgar Linares as Public Information Officer
MARCH 25, 2019(MINNEAPOLIS) - The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office announced today that Minnesota journalist Edgar Linares has joined the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office as Public Information Officer (PIO).
“We are thrilled to have Edgar bring his expertise to the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office,” said Director of Communications Jeremy Zoss. “It was clear from our first meeting with him that his skills would make him a perfect fit for our team. He will be an invaluable part of our efforts to share the good work of this agency with the people of Hennepin County.”
Edgar is an award-winning journalist who grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah where he graduated from the University of Utah. He is a married father of two young boys and proud member of Minnesota’s Latin-American community. Edgar’s broadcasting career spans nearly two decades and includes reporting on local and national stories such as drug trafficking on the U.S./Mexico border and mountain rescues in the Northwest. For the last eight years, he has worked at WCCO Radio, where he cultivated relationships with other media professionals and law enforcement agencies.
“When the opportunity to work for Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office introduced itself, I jumped at the chance,” said Linares. “Within his first three months in office, Sheriff Hutchinson and his administration have made headlines for bringing swift and positive change to Hennepin County, and I’m excited to be part of the team.”
