Opioid Picture

Opportunities for preventing opioid deaths

The county is considering new approaches for treating and providing services to people with substance use disorders who are booked into the county jail. A recent study found that people who suffered opioid-related deaths often had been recently released from custody.

Learn how our research findings offer opportunities for earlier intervention that could prevent overdose deaths.

SnowRemoval

Thank you to our snow removal crews

A shout out to county staff for staying up late, waking up early and working tirelessly to keep the snow at bay during the snowiest February on record in the Twin Cities. Crews work hard every winter clearing snow and ice to keep our roads clear and county facilities accessible.

Trees

Forestry grants will help reduce disparities

Hennepin County awarded 26 grants that will not only invest in the county's tree canopy, but also the health and economic vitality of communities. The county prioritized areas with lower tree canopy and higher disparities when awarding grants.

See the list of grant recipients at hennepin.us/trees.

Hennepin County inSight: community conversations

Your voice can help inform county priorities – five, 10 and 20 years from now.

We’re embarking on a new level of public engagement. A series of community conversations, called Hennepin County inSight, will begin this spring.

Ways to participate

  • In-person: Join me for the inSight kickoff event in District 2 this spring. Watch for other ways to participate in upcoming newsletters.
  • Online: Voice your feedback using a digital polling tool.

We’re calling on the voices of this living generation to speak up for the generations to follow. Learn more about this opportunity.

Opportunities

Hennepin County’s Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation, in partnership with Marnita’s Table, invites you to join us for an engaging community conversation and planning session. We will explore individual and shared definitions of sustainable community engagement as we collectively strategize how this community advisory board will take shape, while enjoying a delicious feast!

Where: Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1200 Marquette Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55403
