County Road 53 in Richfield
Construction at the 66th Street and Lyndale Avenue roundabout is nearing completion. Crews are currently paving the roundabout and plan to reopen the intersection by the end of the day Monday, July 30.
To expedite the completion of the roundabout, crews will be working at
the intersection of Lyndale Avenue and 66th Street at 7 a.m. on Saturday,
July 28, an hour earlier than usual.
Be prepared for changing pedestrian detours
After the roundabout opens, crews will work on the sidewalks. They will be pouring concrete around the roundabout through early August. Be aware the pedestrian detour route will change at times during this phase of work. Please pay attention and follow the signed route at all times, or call 612-444-3186 if you have questions or need help navigating around the area.

All ramps at the I-35W/66th Street interchange remain closed through mid-August as crews replace underground utilities, pour curbs and gutters and pave the ramps.
During the closure, signed detour routes will be posted for motorists via:
- Penn Avenue to the Highway 62 and I-35W interchange
- Lake Shore Drive to Lyndale Avenue to the I-494 and I-35W interchange

Metro Transit bus stops
The eastbound and westbound bus stops underneath I-35W are closed. Please use the alternate stops at Humboldt Avenue or Lynwood Boulevard.
In addition, the 535 bus traveling northbound and southbound on I-35W are currently not dropping off or picking up any Metro Transit riders at 66th Street during the closure.

Side street closures
Side street closures will
continue as needed at:
- Emerson Avenue on the north side of 66th Street.
Residents will have access from 63rd Street.

Girard Avenue on both the north and south sides of
66th Street. Residents will have access from 65th and 67th streets.
Additional activities you can expect next week between Girard and Portland avenues include:

Utility replacement between Girard Avenue and Lake Shore Drive
- Utility installation between
Lyndale and Grand avenues
- Concrete curbs and gutters work
between Nicollet and Pleasant avenues

Concrete sidewalk installation at the Nicollet Avenue
roundabout
- Paving between Nicollet and Stevens avenues (please expect delays)

Retaining wall construction near 1st Avenue

Continuing sidewalk installation on the south side of
66th Street between Stevens and 5th avenues
Activities are still underway in last year’s
construction areas in east and west Richfield. Below is what you can expect in
the following locations for the next few months.
Xerxes and Humboldt avenues:

Wrapping up final driveway and sidewalk work (properties with driveway access impacts will be notified in advanced)

Final restoration and site clean-up through mid-August
- Final asphalt paving scheduled to occur the week of August 13
Portland and 16th avenues:

Please remember you can still access
all businesses along 66th Street. Plan ahead and allow yourself extra time to reach your destination.

As a reminder, 66th Street is closed to commuters and regional traffic traveling through the area. Through traffic will be detoured to Highway 62, local alternate routes for those accessing the
