There are three major traffic
restrictions that will occur next week along 66th Street.
- 66th Street closure at the railroad tracks between Lyndale and Nicollet avenues
- 66th Street traffic restrictions between Portland and 16th avenues
- 66th Street closure between Nicollet and Stevens avenues

Starting Tuesday, June 19, 66th Street will be closed to all modes of transportation (people driving
vehicles, riding bicycles and pedestrians) at the railroad tracks between Lyndale and Nicollet avenues (near Pleasant Avenue).
This
closure is for the replacement of the railroad tracks and underground utilities
through the 66th Street railroad crossing. Work is currently anticipated to be
completed during daytime hours and the street reopened at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July
3, weather permitting.
Nearby driveway access
- Grand and Pleasant avenues will be accessible from Lyndale Avenue.
- The Hub Shopping Center and Popeyes will be accessible from Nicollet Avenue or 65th Street.
- All other traffic should use the alternate routes on 65th or 70th streets.

Pedestrian access will be provided around the closure using Lyndale Avenue, 65th Street, and Nicollet Avenue.

expect next week between the railroad tracks and Lyndale Avenue:
- Roadway removals on the north side of 66th Street between the railroad tracks (near Pleasant Avenue) and Lyndale Avenue

66th Street and Lyndale Avenue
will remain in a 4-way stop configuration until the intersection is closed for
roundabout construction
The intersection of Lyndale Avenue and 66th Street is currently expected to be closed shortly after Wednesday, July 4 for approximately three weeks, for roundabout construction. If you are traveling through this area prior to the Lyndale Avenue closure, expect delays at the intersection – particularly during morning and evening rush hours.
Beginning Monday, June 18, to Wednesday,
June 20, there will be traffic
restrictions for vehicles and bicyclists during the day on 66th
Street between Portland and 16th avenues as crews pave the final
layer of asphalt.
66th Street will remain accessible for all businesses in the
area, but we advise employees and customers to use the side streets when accessing
your destination. The
side streets off 66th Street will remain open for the majority of the time with, the exception of when work is occurring in the immediate area.
For the safety of the crew, we encourage all through traffic
to use the alternate route of 70th Street.
Work is
anticipated to be completed during daytime hours, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. 66th
Street will reopen to traffic each evening after the daytime closures, weather permitting.
Beginning Monday, June 18, 66th Street will be closed to people driving and
riding bicyles between Nicollet and Stevens avenues.
This closure is for the replacement
of underground utilities and road construction. Work is
currently anticipated to be completed during daytime hours and the street
reopened at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 22, weather permitting.

- Roadway removals on the south side of 66th Street between 1st and Stevens avenues
- Side street closures at 1st and Stevens avenues

Utility replacement between Nicollet and 3rd avenues

Roadway replacement and grading work between Nicollet and Stevens avenues
Activities are still underway in last year’s construction areas in east and
west Richfield. Below is what you can expect in the following locations for the next few months between Xerxes and Humboldt avenues:
- Final driveway and sidewalk work between Humboldt and Russell avenues
- To be notified in advance: Properties with temporary driveway access impacts for final driveway or sidewalk work
- Project staff will continue monitoring the temporary restoration in yards and boulevards and will maintain them as necessary until final restoration occurs

Final asphalt paving is scheduled to occur this fall

all businesses along 66th Street. Plan ahead and allow yourself extra time to reach your destination.

As a reminder, 66th Street is closed to commuters and regional traffic traveling through the area. Through traffic will be detoured to Highway 62, local alternate routes for those accessing the
