Wayzata Boulevard (County Road 112) in Long Lake and Orono

You are receiving this message because you have been identified as an individual or organization that needs to be aware of major road disruptions and closures occurring in Long Lake and Orono.

Road closing for construction activity

Situation

On Monday, June 11, Wayzata Boulevard (County Road 112) will close to through traffic between Wolf Pointe Trail and Wayzata Boulevard West, near the Highway 12 ramps.

The closure is needed to safely and efficiently replace seven underground storm sewer and watermain crossings located underneath the roadway.

Expect multiple closure location changes

There will be closure location changes every one to two days, as crews complete the work. This will affect how people get in and out of the area.

Closure timing

Anticipated schedule

Schedule is subject to change, but crews anticipate closures in these areas on these dates:

  • Monday, June 11 - Tuesday, June 12 - Closed between 150 feet east and 250 feet west of Luce Line Trail overpass
  • Wednesday, June 13 - Partial closure just east of Orono Montessori and Trails of Orono. One lane open in each direction will remain open for local traffic only.
  • Wednesday, June 13 - Thursday, June 14 - Closed 250 feet east of Lindawood Lane
  • Thursday, June 14 - Friday morning, June 15 -  Closed between Old Long Lake Road and Lindawood Lane
  • Friday afternoon, June 15 - Closed between the two entrances of Birches on the Lake, east of Wolf Pointe Trail.

After each underground utility crossing is complete, crews will grade and place a temporary gravel surface, and reopen to local traffic only.

Crews will return the following week on Tuesday, June 19 to pave all crossings before reopening the road to all traffic by Wednesday, June 20

Crossings will be paved half at a time in order to maintain access for local traffic. During paving operations, local traffic will experience delays and lane configuration changes.

Detours and access

We will maintain access for local residents and businesses as much as possible during the closure. There will be access for emergency service and other service vehicles, except through the closed crossing.

There will not be access through the construction area for public transit.

Through traffic will need to use the Highway 12 detour to get around the closure.

We will provide regular closure and access updates on the project website.
