Short-term closure of Wayzata Boulevard begins Monday, June 11

On Monday, June 11, Wayzata Boulevard (County Road 112) will close to through traffic between Wolf Pointe Trail and Wayzata Boulevard West, near the Highway 12 ramps.

The closure is needed to safely and efficiently replace seven underground storm sewer and watermain crossings located underneath the roadway throughout the phase 2 corridor.

Weather permitting, the underground utility work, grading and paving is expected to take ten days to complete.

During the closure, through traffic will be detoured using Highway 12.

This is the first of three scheduled short-term full closures on Wayzata Boulevard.

Expect multiple closure location changes

We will maintain access for local residents and businesses in the immediate closure area. This means you will still be able to get to your home, place of work or favorite business.

However, there will be closure location changes every one to two days, as crews complete the work. This will affect how you get in and out from your neighborhood.

Signage will be provided to help guide people accessing the area. We will also provide regular closure and access updates on the project website at www.hennepin.us/countyroad112.

First crossing closure just east of Wolf Pointe Trail

On Monday, June 11, crews will replace the first underground utility crossing located just east of Wolf Pointe Trail, between the two entrances of Birches on the Lake. Due to the nature of the work, this will be a complete closure. There will be no access through the work area for local traffic.

People coming from the east will have access to homes and businesses located east of the closure. However, you will need to use the detour route to head west of the closure.

People coming from the west will have access to Birches on the Lake. However, you will need to use the detour route to get to homes or businesses located east of the closure.

Excavations also begin next week

Starting Monday, June 11, crews will begin excavations along the northern half of Wayzata Boulevard between Old Long Lake Road and the Luce Line Trail overpass.

Excavations are part of the overall soil correction work being done throughout the corridor to provide extra road strength to support traffic during stages of reconstruction, as well as for the completed roadway and trail.

Excavation work is expected to take up to two weeks to complete, and will have minimal traffic impacts.
