Officer identified in officer involved shooting
November 15, 2017 (MINNEAPOLIS) – A New Hope Police officer involved in a fatal incident on the 5100 block of Angeline Avenue North in Crystal, on November 10, 2017, has been identified as Officer Ben Harty.
Officer Harty has served as a peace officer for close to nine years, joining the New Hope Police Department on December 15, 2008. He is currently on paid administrative leave, per the department’s policy.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident at the request of the Crystal and New Hope police departments. The investigation is active and on-going. Once the Sheriff’s Office investigation is complete, it will turn its findings over to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office for review.
