Citizen Law Enforcement Academy

Do you have an interest in a law enforcement career? Or perhaps you have always wanted to know more about our agency? Well, you are in luck because we have a few open spots for this fall's Citizen Law Enforcement Academy. 

This seven-week course educates participants about the wide variety of services the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office provides, and includes hands-on learning, demonstrations, and tour/ride-along opportunities. 

The fall class will begin Wednesday, September 20. Space is limited and seats are filling-up fast, so get your application in as soon as possible.

Wayzata Officer Killed in the Line of Duty

Officer Mathews

This past Friday, Wayzata Police Officer William Mathews was killed in the line of duty while responding to a 911 call on Highway 12. Officer Mathews leaves behind a wife and a seven-year-old son. Our entire agency sends thoughts and prayers to the fallen officer’s family, friends, the Wayzata Police Department, and the entire Wayzata community. 

Funeral arrangement have been announced and the public is invited to attend. Additional information below. 

Visitation:

  • Wednesday, September 13
  • 3 to 8 p.m.
  • Wayzata Free Church
  • 705 County Road 101, Plymouth

Funeral:

  • Thursday, September 14
  • 11 a.m. 
  • Wayzata Free Church
  • 705 County Road 101, Plymouth 


Burial:

  • Thursday, September 14
  • Following the funeral service
  • Summit Park Cemetery, Wayzata

#NOverdose Day with the Vikings

Mark your calendars for #NOverdose Day with the Vikings on October 15th. The Vikings will be taking on the Green Bay Packers, but more importantly, they will be helping us tackle the opioid epidemic.
