This weekend, Hennepin County is hosting a second annual civic codeathon about community, open data, technology and geography across the Twin Cities.
Geo:Code 2.0 will connect civically-minded community members with geographers and technology developers to collaborate on the use of technology and open data to effect change for good. Community matters as the forum for bringing people together to solve problems; geography matters because community concerns are tied to a place; and technology matters because it is a tool to examine and address community concerns.
Free and for everyone
Coders, cartographers, data visualizers, designers, developers, dreamers, makers, mappers, students and technologists – from full-stack to “I’ve never been to one of these events before!”
Participants will code on an open source project, take a run at visualizing
available open data, help with some research, develop a new policy, work
collaboratively with local government staff to improve public services or just
generally put their shoulders into projects centered on improving, enjoying or
exploring the Twin Cities.
