Tuesday, May 12 - Commuter Challenge
Pre-Commuter Challenge festivities at
Target Field Station with a Behind the Big Wheel event.
See what it's like to sit in the driver’s seat of a city bus, a
school bus, a garbage truck and other large vehicles to understand the blind
spots for large vehicle operators. Pre-Commuter Challenge festivities are hosted in collaboration
with the Minneapolis Bicycle Coalition, Bicycle
Alliance of Minnesota, City of Minneapolis and the Minneapolis Downtown Council.
Commuter Challenge Cheer on Commissioner Marion Greene using her bike and the light
rail as she races other downtown commuters by bike, train or car from Target
Field station to Minnehaha Park. This light-hearted and fun race will highlight
numerous options commuters have for getting to and from work each day.

Friday, May 15 Bike to Work Day
Have you ever wanted to try bike commuting? Friday, May 15, is the day to give it a try. Meet up with other bicyclists around the region so that regular bike commuters can help beginners find a safe and comfortable route to work. Find out more about Minneapolis Bike Week and Bike to Work Day. If you already commute by bike, help others get started by offering to lead a ride from your neighborhood.
Commissioners Marion Greene
and Peter McLaughlin will be leading rides from their neighborhoods to the Hennepin County Government
Center North Plaza followed by a celebration on the plaza. Commissioners Jan Callison, Greene and McLaughlin will speak at the celebration. There will also be a lunch
festival to encourage people to bike. County staff will be available at both events to answer questions about biking in Hennepin County.
