Governor Walz Signs $1.2 Billion Infrastructure Bill

Governor Walz Bonding Bill Signing

On Friday, Governor Walz ceremonially signed a $1.2 billion infrastructure bill alongside St. Paul Mayor Kaohly Her, legislators, labor leaders, and advocates. Governor Walz signed the bill at the Third Street Bridge construction site in St. Paul, which was funded through infrastructure bills signed into law in 2020 and 2023. Photos from the Governor’s visit are available here.

“I’m proud of the 2026 bonding bill, a $1.2 billion investment in our state’s infrastructure that caps off eight years of more than $8 billion in investments across Minnesota,” said Governor Walz. “With fiscal responsibility at the top of mind, we’ve delivered a bonding bill that will secure jobs, strengthen our economy, and support critical public works, transportation, housing, and water infrastructure for decades to come.”

Governor Walz Announces Appointments to the Governor’s Council on Recording the Truth of Operation Metro Surge and Operation PARRIS on Minnesotans

On Monday, Governor Walz announced appointments to the Governor’s Council on Recording the Truth of Operation Metro Surge and Operation PARRIS on Minnesotans.

“Documenting history requires trusted leaders who are committed to listening, preserving people’s experiences, and ensuring that Minnesota’s story is not forgotten,” said Governor Walz. “These council members bring deep expertise, lived experience, and a shared commitment to the truth. Their work will help create a lasting public record of both the harm endured and the resilience Minnesotans demonstrated during this difficult chapter in our state’s history.”

ICYMI: Governor Walz Signs Legislation Strengthening Online Protections for Minnesota Children

Last week Governor Walz signed HF 4138, to amend the Stop Harms From Addictive Social Media (SHASM) statute and establish new protections for children using social media, limiting addictive platform features, strengthening privacy safeguards, and increasing parental controls.

“As a teacher and a dad, I’ve seen firsthand how new and emerging technology can impact our children,” said Governor Walz. “As social media becomes more advanced, we need to make sure our families don’t fall victim to the powerful companies that use kids as a testing ground to make algorithms more addictive. Privacy and safety have to come first. This bill puts families back in the driver’s seat and makes sure technology works for our kids, not the other way around.”
