Governor Walz shakes hands with National Guard member

Last week, Governor Walz traveled to Kuwait to visit members of the Minnesota National Guard’s 347th Regional Support Group and members of the RSG’s 147th Human Resources Company serving abroad this holiday season.

“It was my honor to spend time with the service members serving our country in Kuwait,” said Governor Walz. “While many Minnesotans will gather with family and friends this holiday season, there are many others who have chosen to sacrifice time with their loved ones to protect us. As a 24-year veteran of the National Guard, I know what it’s like to be away from home and family. Thank you to the brave men and women at home and abroad who fight to defend our safety and freedom every day.”

Governor Walz and Lieutenant Governor Flanagan convened their administration's fourth annual Governor and Tribal Leaders Summit.

"We’re committed to strengthening our partnership with all 11 Tribes in Minnesota as we continue to embed government-to-government relations in the fabric of state government,” said Governor Walz.

"For many years, policy has been done to Tribal communities instead of with Tribal communities. We’re grateful for the opportunity to change that by continuing to strengthen our relationships, together. Miigwech to all Tribal leaders who joined us," said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan.
