According to AFAR, the Great Lakes region, including Lake Superior in Minnesota, is one of The Best Places to Travel in 2023. From charming lake towns to expedition cruises, there are many good reasons to explore the Great Lakes. CNN Travel also named Minneapolis one of the Best Destinations to Visit in 2023, citing its modern indigenous community.

WINONA NAMED ONE OF THE CUTEST SMALL TOWNS IN THE MIDWEST

The southern Minnesota town of Winona, with its bustling downtown and Victorian architecture, was named on of the top 10 cutest small towns in the Midwest. The river bluffs of this area link to the Mississippi River Trail and offer one of the most picturesque bike rides in the region. Renowned for its arts scene, Winona is the home of the Minnesota Marine Art Museum and numerous festivals throughout the year.

THIS NATIONAL SCENIC BYWAY IS ONE OF THE TOP AFFORDABLE ROAD TRIPS IN THE U.S.

Starting in Minnesota, the Great River Road National Scenic Byway is considered one of the country's premier driving destinations. The newly designated All-American Road was chosen as one of the top affordable American road trips by Newsy. Stretching 565 miles, travelers are privy to the state's cities and charming small towns on the banks of the mighty Mississippi, and the heart of Minneapolis-St. Paul, with access to major museums, award-winning restaurants and beautiful trails.

MINNESOTA ZOO'S NEW TREETOP TRAIL

Guests at the Minnesota Zoo will soon be able to reach new heights when the Treetop Trail, the world's longest elevated pedestrian loop, officially opens. Beginning Friday, July 28, 2023, the 1.25-mile Treetop Trail will bring guests up to 32 feet above the ground and provide them with an immersive and accessible naturistic journey. Integrating into the Zoo's original monorail track which was retired in 2013, the Treetop Trail is the ultimate reuse construction project. The project coordinators have been committed to minimizing disruptions to the Zoo's animals and guests before, during, and after construction.
