Inspired by the 1923 Broadway debut of Sholem Asch’s God of Vengeance – a play that follows a Jewish brothel owner and the lesbian romance between his 17-year-old daughter and a prostitute – Indecent charts the journey of a drama upheld as a groundbreaking piece of Jewish literature by some, and an act of obscenity by others. The Nightingale
This fairy tale classic by Hans Christian Andersen, told through original music and dance, delves into the power of real beauty to stir the heart. The Emperor’s nightingale sings more beautifully than any other creature in the kingdom, but is suddenly replaced by a bejeweled mechanical bird that proves to be more predictable. When the mechanical bird eventually breaks down and the Emperor is taken ill, however, the real nightingale returns to restore the Emperor’s life through its uncompromisingly beautiful song. Minnesota Ballet's "Swan Lake"
This premier production by Robert Gardner demonstrates his vision of the iconic, world-performed ballet set to the glorious Tchaikovsky score. In a darkened woods by a moonlit lake, Prince Siegfried comes upon graceful swan maidens under the spell of the wicked sorcerer Von Rothbart and falls in love with Odette, their beautiful queen. The following eve, when he must chose a wife, the Prince declares himself betrothed to the one he believes is Odette, but is really von Rothbart’s daughter, Odile. The 50th Arrowhead Auto Body Motorhead Madness presented by Veit and Rydell Parts will take over the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center with more than 150 one-of-a-kind customs, trucks, 4x4s, hot rods, street rods, race cars, cycles, and antique autos. Attendees can meet the designers, owners and builders while enjoying the creative car club exhibits and shopping for the latest in automotive trends and accessories. Cheer on the drivers during the continuously running Lake Superior Radio Controlled Car Club races. A Flea Market and Swap Meet will be held all weekend long.
