Citizen Board Member Opening - 4th Congressional District 

Applications are now open for an EQB Citizen Board Member in the 4th Congressional District. The 4th Congressional District includes St. Paul and surrounding suburbs such as Woodbury, Maplewood, Roseville, New Brighton, White Bear Lake, and Stillwater.

Environmental Assessment Worksheets

Project Title: Cuyuna Connection and Cuyuna Hills Trail

Project Comment Deadline: September 18, 2019

Project Description: Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew proposes to construct a total of 11.40 miles of recreational trails, consisting of the Cuyuna Connection Trail Loop and the Cuyuna Hills Trail Loop. The trails are designed to be used for non-motorized recreation access including mountain biking, hiking, trail running, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the Cuyuna area. The DNR will accept written and electronic comments on the Environmental Assessment Worksheet during the public review and comment period, which concludes on Thursday, September 18, 2019 at 4:30 p.m. Electronic or email comments may be sent to environmentalrev.dnr@state.mn.us with “Cuyuna Connection EAW” in the subject line. If submitting comments electronically, include name and mailing address. Written comments may also be sent by fax to (651) 296-1811.

Project Title: Lundquist Mine Expansion

Comment Deadline: September 18, 2019

Project Description: WM. Mueller & Sons, Inc. currently operates a nonmetallic mineral mining facility located in Dahlgren Township, Carver County MN. The site was initially permitted by the County in 2003. The Project proposes to amend the current conditional use permit to establish ultimate mine limits, phasing, processing, recycling, and reclamation activities across an approximately 103-acre parcel of property. Alternative Urban Areawide Review Drafts

Project Title: Ford Site

Comment Deadline: September 18, 2019

Project Description: As the Responsible Governmental Unit (RGU), the City of Saint Paul has drafted a Draft Alternative Urban Areawide Review (AUAR) and Mitigation Plan for the Ford Site and adjacent parcels. The Draft AUAR and Mitigation Plan is being distributed to agencies on the current Minnesota Environmental Quality Board distribution list and members of the public who provided comments on the Draft AUAR Order and Scoping document. The Draft AUAR and Mitigation Plan can be accessed electronically on the City of Saint Paul's website at www.stpaul.gov/Ford-auar. The 30-day comment period will begin on August 19, 2019. Notice of Environmental Assessment

Project Title: Mesaba Junction 115 kV Project

Comment Deadline: September 3, 2019

Project Description: The proposed Mesaba Junction 115 kV Project is a new substation and 115 kV High Voltage Transmission Line (HVTL) in the City of Hoyt Lakes. The new Mesaba Junction Substation will be interconnected to the existing transmission lines in the area connecting to the Taconite Harbor, Hoyt Lakes, and Laskin substations. Approximately 5.4 miles of new 115 kV line will be constructed along the existing Laskin-Hoyt Lakes transmission line corridor to extend the existing Forbes-Laskin 115 kV Line into Mesaba Junction. The existing connection to the Laskin Substation will be eliminated. Minnesota Power has requested the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission allow the City of Hoyt Lakes to conduct a local review and permit approval process as is allowed under Minnesota Statutes Chapter 216-E.05. The City of Hoyt Lakes will evaluate the potential environmental effects of the project through an Environmental Assessment (EA). The City of Hoyt Lakes will hold a public hearing at 206 Kennedy Memorial Drive, Hoyt Lakes, MN 55750, Hoyt Lakes City Hall, on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 5:00 pm.

The City of Hoyt Lakes will accept written comments on the EA until September 3, 2019. The EA will be available for review at the Hoyt Lakes Municipal Building at 206 Kennedy Memorial Drive, Hoyt Lakes, MN 55750 and on the City website at www.hoytlakes.com.

Project Title: Christenson Farms Hog Feedlot

The MPCA is hereby notifying the Environmental Quality Board (EQB), the Petitioner’s Representative and Sibley County of our decision that the proposed Nathan Sommer and Bryan Sommer Swine Nursey Barns (Projects) (Christenson Farms Hog Feedlot) are exempt from Environmental Review and therefore a petition may not be considered.
