Minnesota State is Minnesota’s healthcare workforce engine — producing more than half of the state’s graduates in the field each year. Today I am happy to introduce you to two students who will soon be helping others through their careers as a nurse and a medical assistant. Enjoy!

 Bemidji State's Kendra Fortin: College Athlete, Nursing Student and Advocate
By day Kendra Fortin is a senior nursing student at Bemidji State University (BSU). Late afternoons and evenings you will find her on the ice, where she is a defenseman on the BSU women’s hockey team. If that’s not enough, for the past three seasons, Fortin has organized an Organ Donation Awareness weekend at both BSU Men’s and Women’s Hockey games.

 Century College Student Salina Vang Sets Eyes on Medical Assistant Career
Salina Vang always knew that a career in the healthcare field was something she wanted. When someone from Century College told her about an opportunity to work with Health Partners Park Nicollet through the Minnesota Dual Grant, she knew she had found a way to make her dream come true. Now Vang spends one afternoon a week at the clinic while she works to earn her degree.
