Last month an EPPD officer was on patrol when he noticed a vehicle in an apartment parking lot that had a warrant out for the vehicle’s registered owner.
After the vehicle committed a traffic violation, the officer pulled it over. The driver showed physical signs of drug use and stated his drug of choice was methamphetamine.
Officer Nate Eichman and his K-9 partner Gus were then dispatched to the car to do a search for drugs. Gus made a positive alert on the vehicle and a subsequent search found illegal pills and meth in the car along with two replica BB guns. Ammunition was later found in a pocket of the man’s jacket. A computer search of the suspect found that he had 152 previous convictions. He was charged with felony drug possession and other charges.
Thanks to great teamwork by officers and K-9 Gus, a potentially dangerous suspect was taken off the streets.
