We’re fortunate in Eden Prairie to have our own 911 Emergency Communications Center and to have an incredibly talented group of professionals who answer 911 calls in Eden Prairie 24/7.
While we do not have Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST) positions open often (six of our 13 dispatchers have been with the department for 20 years or more), we are currently recruiting for a dispatcher to join our team due to a retirement.
Last year our Emergency Communications Center answered 70,242 calls. Calls range from car lockouts to shoplifting to death investigations. Our PSTs know our officers and firefighters, as well the City itself — its infrastructure, streets, parks, shopping areas, schools, etc. — and are therefore able to provide customized service to people who call 911 in Eden Prairie.
When hiring 911 Public Safety Telecommunicators, we look for candidates who can communicate in a clear and concise manner, exhibit self-confidence, maintain professionalism while under pressure, make good decisions in a timely manner and perform at a high level of accuracy.
View the job posting and apply by 4 p.m. Jan. 13.
