Tory Sailer, Eden Prairie’s City Prosecutor since 2021, is leaving his position at the end of the month.
Earlier today he was honored by the PD with a Commendation Award.
Tory will be missed by EPPD staff for his thoroughness, approachability and fairness. In particular, Tory was known for his deep commitment to keeping impaired drivers off the streets. Last year he was honored by MADD as the Prosecutor of the Year in Minnesota.
Tory regularly presented at department trainings to build relationships and educate our staff on how to build the best case for a successful prosecution. In addition, Tory attended a section of the DRE (Drug Recognition Evaluator) course to better understand the indicators of drug impairment to assist him in better prosecuting cases.
Tory did an excellent job in court and worked hard to get judges to understand what impairment is. He was firm but fair when attempting to hold suspects accountable for their actions and did not hesitate to push back when he felt sentencing was too light.
We appreciate all Tory did for our department and community and wish him the best of luck with his next chapter!
