Recently Sgt. Tom Lowery and Sgt. Jordan Koras of the EPPD’s Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) team, also known as our drone team, sat down with the Eden Prairie Lions Club to talk about what the team does.
Watch the show on the Eden Prairie Lions YouTube channel.
The department’s UAS program was started in 2020 to help locate missing and endangered people, find fleeing suspects, support investigative functions and meet other public safety needs. The program is managed by a team of five sworn officers and one volunteer civilian who have received extensive training on drone operations and policies.
Police Departments are required to report their UAS activity to the state each year. In 2023 our drones were activated 53 times.
