March is National Social Work Month which gives us a great opportunity to celebrate our social worker, Molly Mitley.
In 2021 the EPPD began working with Hennepin County to embed a full-time social worker in the department. Molly started in January 2022 and since then has been working with EPPD staff on 911 calls where someone is in mental crisis. Funding for the position is shared by Hennepin County and the City.
Molly makes a direct personal connection with individuals and families to assist them with challenges and to connect them with services to provide long-term help. In her first two years here, Molly has built quality relationships with individuals and families who now work with her directly rather than calling 911 when they need the kind of assistance a social worker can provide. Since she started in 2022, Molly has opened 962 new intakes.
Examples of the work Molly does includes assisting individuals who are suffering from chemical dependency by connecting them with County services or assisting individuals who have diagnosed medical conditions who require help with daily life challenges.
Thank you Molly! We appreciate all you do for our department and our community!
