Last Thursday, Officer Chad Streiff received two more hockey sticks for two Hat Trick arrests he made during back-to-back shifts last December.
A Hat Trick occurs when an officer makes three DWI arrests in one shift.
Since August 2018, Officer Streiff has made twenty-two Hat Tricks, two Grand Slams (four arrests in one shift) and one Ace (five arrests in one shift). Officer Streiff serves as a full-time DWI officer thanks to a grant from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.

Also on Thursday, Officer Hunter Fricke received a certificate and a challenge coin from the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety in recognition of his work on Jan. 21, 2024, when he stopped two teenagers who each took vehicles from their families and were racing each other on Highway 212 at 93 mph. Both vehicles had passengers and neither of the drivers had a driver’s license.
The EPPD and the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety are grateful for both officers’ efforts at keeping our streets safe.
Bill Hammes, law enforcement liaison for the MN Office of Traffic Safety, presented both awards.
