We’re saddened to share that Whisper, the Outdoor Center’s resident barred owl, died this week due to natural causes.

Whisper came to us in 2016, after surviving an injury which prevented him from safely returning to the wild. Over the years, he played a role in numerous educational programs, including special appearances at local elementary schools and interactions with thousands of children. Our team of naturalists had grown close to him, and Whisper’s endearing nature and captivating presence made him a beloved member of our community.

We will certainly miss him, and we’re grateful to have provided a safe haven for our dear owl friend.
