The City of Eden Prairie has been recognized by Minnesota GreenStep Cities for attaining the program’s highest level of achievement for a sixth time.

When and how you use electricity this summer can have an impact on the environment! The Citizens Utility Board provides summer energy saving tips to try to keep your summer electricity bill manageable while still staying comfortable.

Landscape with water quality in mind
What we do on land affects our lakes, creeks and rivers. If you're considering a shoreline buffer, rain garden or pollinator garden designed and constructed to treat stormwater runoff, learn about the City’s landscaping rebates.

Consider the pollinators
A flowering lawn differs from a traditional lawn by including flowering plants as well as turfgrasses. In addition to providing much-needed food resources for bees and other beneficial pollinators, the benefits of a flowering lawn include increased lawn resilience and the beauty of the flowers themselves. The University of Minnesota Extension offers practical tips about planting and maintaining a bee lawn.

Join the Stop Food Waste Challenge
To reduce waste at your home, join Hennepin County’s online Stop Food Waste Challenge. You'll learn easy, practical skills to help you stop wasting food, keep more money in your pocket and create a healthier environment. Challenge runs Aug. 1–31. Eden Prairie is proud to be a 2022 Stop Food Waste Challenge Partner!

Dispose of yard waste properly for water's sake
Pollutants or nutrients entering a pond through stormwater runoff can lead to harmful algae blooms (HABs), excess plant growth or even harm to wildlife. Learn about protecting stormwater ponds by safely disposing of yard waste.

Save money and the environment by using water wisely
Lawn watering uses a significant portion of Eden Prairie's water supply. Make sure you're doing your part this summer to use our water resources wisely by following the City's lawn watering ordinance. Take a minute to learn about the City's water rebate programs while you're at it.

Volunteer to protect our water bodies
Join one of the City's storm drain volunteer programs to make a difference! The Storm Drain Marking program helps you apply educational messages on storm drains to remind neighbors that whatever goes into storm sewers travels untreated to our lakes, streams and wetlands. Or organize a group of family, friends or neighbors to Adopt-a-Drain in your neighborhood!

Sustainable Eden Prairie is an ongoing effort focusing on education and implementation of sustainable practices, and achieving community-wide carbon neutrality by 2050.
