In the midst of this arctic cold blast, it may be difficult to think ahead to summer. But soon enough we will be enjoying Minnesota’s summer and come September, we will be commemorating a special and somber anniversary.

September 11, 2021 will mark the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the United States by the terrorist group Al-Qaeda. Like other significant events in our county’s history, most of us can probably remember where we were on that fateful day when we lost almost 3,000 Americans.

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) is pleased to recognize February as Black History Month to celebrate the achievements, contributions and diversity of Minnesota’s Black/African American community as well as acknowledge our history and the progress we continue to work toward today.

MDVA Welcomes New Silver Bay Veterans Home Administrator

Dani Donner updated

The Minnesota Veterans Home - Silver Bay welcomes new Administrator Dani Donner. Dani is a familiar face as she previously worked at the Home in various roles for 13 years. After obtaining her Nursing Home Administrator license, she gathered critical skills in the community including her most recent role at Big Fork Valley Healthcare where she served as the Director for Senior Services. Welcome back, Dani, to the Silver Bay Veterans Home!

Expected to End Soon: Financial Assistance for Veterans Impacted by COVID-19

Based on current demand, MDVA expects funding for the COVID-19 Financial Relief Grants to be exhausted in early March. Please reach out to your CVSO now if you have been financially impacted by the pandemic. Once the funding has been exhausted we will not process any applications received after the close date.
