The fall season brings back to school, football, and for the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, our annual Minnesota Commanders’ Task Force Leadership Summit. The Minnesota Commanders’ Task Force (CTF) is comprised of nine of the largest Congressionally Chartered Veterans Service Organizations which provide benefits claims support and advocacy for Minnesota Veterans and operate as a unified forum in Minnesota to advise, address and support Veteran issues.

Minnesota Veterans Cemetery - Duluth Dedication

Minnesota's third State Veterans Cemetery was dedicated Saturday, September 21 in Duluth by national and state leaders in a ceremony attended by several hundred Veterans, families, community members and Veteran supporters which included National Cemetery Administration (NCA) Undersecretary Randy Reeves, Governor Tim Walz and MDVA Commissioner Larry Herke.

Domiciliary Introduces “Three Paths” Program

The Three Paths Domiciliary program is a new program available to Veterans. This includes the Earth Path, which is designed for Veterans who choose to make the Minnesota Veterans Home Domiciliary Program their home, ensuring that they get the most out of life. The Water Path is designed for Veterans in need of mental health and/or chemical dependency support to ensure they receive care customized to their individualized goals. The focus of the Water Path is on supportive services, medication management, coordination of care and crisis management. The Fire Path is designed for Veterans who want to return to living successfully and independently in the community through an environment that encourages them to work towards achieving their personal goals of independence and self-sufficiency.

The official State of Minnesota Veterans Day Event will take place Monday, Nov. 11, at the Veterans Memorial Community Center in Inver Grove Heights.

Nursing Assistant Training

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs is partnering with Inver Hills Community College to offer a seven-week training program to become a certified nursing assistant. This short-term, seven-week program is perfect for those wanting to work in healthcare and can lead to a professional career as a nurse. The next course begins October 22!

Veterans Day Event Submissions, Deadline Nov. 1

In recognition of Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 11, the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs is compiling a list of Veterans Day events around the state. Community organizers statewide are encouraged to submit event information to MDVA by Nov. 1 to be included on our website, social media, and distributed to media throughout Minnesota.

Painting Dedicated to Air Force Completes Tribute at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery - Little Falls

More than 10 years in the making, a series of paintings that make up the Veterans Art Monument in the Committal Hall at the State Veterans Cemetery - Little Falls has been completed with the final installment dedicated to the U.S. Air Force.
