Commissioner Shellito

If you are like me, you are wondering how the summer days seem to fly by so fast! I cannot help but notice how the staff here in St. Paul work diligently during the week but when they return from the weekend, they display that sunburnt redness that we cherish. The best time to drive in the cities is on a summer’s weekend day. But avoid Friday evening if leaving or Sunday evening if coming home to the metro. Summer weekend traffic is bumper to bumper!

Hire a Veteran Month

Governor Mark Dayton has proclaimed the month of July, 2018 to be “Hire a Veteran Month” in the State of Minnesota. Governor Dayton’s proclamation encourages all Minnesota employers to help connect military service members with employment opportunities during the month of July, and to continue hiring Veterans throughout the year. As part of “Hire a Veteran Month”, Governor Dayton encourages Minnesota Veterans to attend the 12th Annual Veteran’s Career Fair taking place on Wednesday, July 18 from 2 – 6 p.m.

Medicare Users Prepare to Receive a New Card and Number

In April, Medicare began mailing new Medicare cards with a fresh look that includes a new number. The new Medicare numbers do not change a user’s Medicare coverage or familiar benefits. The mailing of new cards will be staggered throughout the year, with completion expected by April, 2019.
