When the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017 was signed into law, Vietnam Veterans Day became commemorated annually on March 29th. This act of Congress honored Vietnam Veterans with a day of recognition signed into law by President Donald Trump. March 29th of each year is now designated as National Vietnam War Veterans Day by the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017. The U.S. flag is to be flown in commemoration of those who served in Vietnam.

MDVA Receives Pillars of Excellence Award

The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) has been awarded the prestigious Abraham Lincoln Pillars of Excellence Award from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.  This award recognizes outstanding state programs that support Veterans within their states.

I Am Not Invisible

A new awareness campaign debuted February 25th in the State Capitol Rotunda and honors Women Veterans. More than 29,000 Women Veterans call Minnesota home, but they often feel unnoticed, unappreciated… invisible. They decided to change that last fall by launching the beginning of “I Am Not Invisible,” an awareness campaign designed to honor our Women Veterans and educate the public about some of the unique challenges Women Veterans face when they come back from their service. Now they have unveiled the campaign to the public, with a portrait exhibit featuring 33 of Minnesota’s Women Veterans and a multimedia PSA campaign.

MDVA SOT Grant Cycle Opening

The next open grant cycle is scheduled to open Monday, March 26 through Monday, April 23. Support our Troops (SOT) grant applications may be submitted any time during this open cycle.

The SOT grant application will be available at the MinnesotaVeteran.org grants page during the open grant cycle. Detailed instructions for how to apply will be outlined in the application.
