Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony

Minnesotans gathered December 7 at the Minnesota History Center to honor and remember the 75th Anniversary of the Attacks on Pearl Harbor. In attendance were Pearl Harbor Survivors Richard Thill and Victor Paradis. The event was hosted by the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, Fort Snelling National Cemetery Memorial Rifle Squad, the Minnesota History Center and Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs. Minneapolis Veterans Home Enjoys Pearl Harbor Program

Wednesday, December 7th, Residents of the Minnesota Veterans Home - Minneapolis gathered in the Community Room to watched a live stream of the Pearl Harbor Day program that took place at the Minnesota History Center. Veterans participated in the Pledge of Allegiance, sang along and even raised their hands when asked who in the crowd was a WWII Veteran.  The program was both meaningful and interesting to Veterans and staff. 

New “Support Our Troops” Grant Opportunity

The Support Our Troops (SOT) Grant process is now open! Since 1993, the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs (MDVA) provides over 90 grants yearly to Minnesota Veteran organizations. These grants, in the past, have been awarded to legislatively directed Minnesota Veteran organizations whose mission is to assist Veterans and their families, but are now available to a wide array of companies that seek to improve the lives of Veterans and their families.

Hundreds Gathered to Honor Veterans

On Veterans Day Minnesota leaders, families, and members of the military came together to honor our Veterans. The Official State of Minnesota Veterans Day program took place at the Veterans Memorial Community Center in Inver Grove Heights. Speakers included Gov. Mark Dayton, Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken, and Congressman Tom Emmer.
