Cybersecurity news

Minnesota Tech Connect Conference

Several ECN staff members attended the Minnesota Tech Connect conference last month, alongside IT professionals from cities and counties across the state. Presenters discussed the current landscape of cybersecurity risks and lessons learned from previous attacks. The biggest takeaway when it comes to cyber incidents: it's not a matter of if, but when. Organizations can never have enough protection in place.

Save the date: ECN cybersecurity trainings

ECN is hosting free, day-long cybersecurity trainings in April.

These trainings are designed to give attendees practical knowledge, structured response strategies and a stronger understanding of how public safety telecommunicators (PSTs), PSAP supervisors, IT staff and leadership should work together during cyber incidents.

PSAP managers and IT staff are encouraged to attend. These trainings are made possible through funding from the federal State Homeland Security Program (SHSP) grant.

Cost

Course registration is free and lunch will be provided. Travel, additional meals and lodging are the responsibility of the course participant.

About LanguageLine

LanguageLine is a 24/7 Voice of the Customer issue-resolution ticketing system.  An essential tool for call takers to gather accurate information, it provides lifesaving instructions and coordinates timely responses.

ECN supports Minnesota’s PSAPs with a dedicated 1-888 telephone number for 911 emergency calls. The number connects non-English-speaking and limited-English-proficient callers and public safety telecommunicators with an interpreter. The 1-888 number is funded through the statewide 911 fee, and its use is subject to FCC and statutory 911 fee eligibility requirements.
