We are excited to announce the launch of a new and improved Minnesota Department of Public Safety website, designed to better serve Minnesotans and enhance the way they access critical public safety information and services.
The new website will also make it easier for you to find the important information from Driver and Vehicle Services.
Here’s what you can expect from the new site:
-
Better content for you and the communities you serve Our team has been working diligently to improve the website's content, making it clearer and easier to navigate. The goal is to ensure that the public can quickly find the information they need to make informed decisions about their safety and the safety of others.
-
A new look and enhanced search options The website will feature a modern, mobile-friendly design that adapts seamlessly to all devices, from smartphones to tablets. Improved search functionality and streamlined content organization will make it easier than ever to locate key information.
-
Improved accessibility Consistent with our mission of serving all communities to build a safer Minnesota, the new site will meet or exceed state and federal accessibility standards. It will be easier for everyone, including individuals with disabilities, to access the services and information they need.
-
Enhanced security Security is a top priority. The new website will incorporate advanced cybersecurity measures, including 24/7 monitoring and emergency response capabilities, separation of website content from personal information, and redundant backup systems to ensure disaster recovery.
-
Efficiency and engagement Our new content management system (CMS) will allow DPS staff to easily update the website with the latest information, ensuring the public has access to current services and resources. It will also improve communication and feedback with the public and our partners to support ongoing improvements.
Why the change? Our current website, launched in 2011, is outdated. It lacks mobile-friendliness, the navigation is cumbersome, and the content is difficult to find. With Microsoft planning to end support for our current CMS by July 2026, we are taking this opportunity to address these challenges and provide a better user experience for years to come.
What you can do We encourage you to explore the new site at dps.mn.gov, share it with your network and let us know your thoughts. Your feedback is invaluable as we continue to improve the site and make it a reliable tool for you, your organization and the people you serve. Let us know what you think in this feedback form.

Looking ahead We believe that a well-designed website is a reflection of our shared commitment to professionalism and public trust. With this launch, we’re not just delivering a new digital tool—we’re strengthening the relationship between DPS and the public safety and community partners who help make Minnesota safer.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. We look forward to hearing from you and continuing our important work together.
