Important: Register for Microsoft MFA before Nov. 6

You are receiving this message because you are a state employee, and you are now required to register for Microsoft Multi-factor Authentication (MFA). Microsoft MFA is one of the tools we use to help reduce the risk of unauthorized access and protect the state’s systems, applications and data.

  • Microsoft MFA is different from VPN (Virtual Private Network)and both are now required to do your work.
    • Whether you work on the state network in person or telework using VPN (and Cisco AnyConnect), you still need to register for Microsoft MFA.
  • Avoid potential disruptions to your work by registering for Microsoft MFA now.

Please read this email carefully because it contains actions you must take.

Microsoft MFA and the Authenticator app on personal devices

Important: We worked with Minnesota Department of Management and Budget (MMB) to ensure that registering for Microsoft MFA is allowed in the MMB policy, and installing the Microsoft Authenticator app on your personal mobile device will not subject your personal device to any state data claims.

Get started now

It usually takes about 15 minutes to set up MFA by yourself. For the best experience, you will need your state-owned computer, and your personal mobile device.

Visit MNIT's Learning Pathways for video quick steps and written instructions.
