Upcoming MNDRIVE change

What is changing?

When entering a U.S. passport you will need to add the “Place of birth” as listed on the U.S. Passport.

When will this change?

This change is expected to be in MNDRIVE no later than the start of business on Tuesday, October 15th. Communication will be sent if the change will be effective prior to that date.

Why is this changing?

DVS continuously evaluates and makes updates to MNDRIVE to improve the integrity of the system. This helps DVS to ensure that documents are being viewed and verified as the document is accepted.

This also assists with identifying a unique scenario where a U.S. passport is issued to those born in American Samoa & Swains Island, but the passport states the “Bearer is a U.S. National, not a U.S. Citizen”. This does not mean the individual is not a U.S. citizen, rather the document provided is not proof of U.S. Citizenship.

Do I need to do anything now?

  • If you enter a U.S. passport where the place of birth is American Samoa or Swains Island, put it into “Force Review”.
  • If you enter a U.S. birth certificate where the place of birth is American Samoa or Swains Island make sure to choose American Samoa as the place of birth in the appropriate field and then put it into “Force Review”. There is not an option to select Swains Island because it is part of American Samoa.
  • After the MNDRIVE update takes place, you will no longer need to put these into “Force Review” as the system will automatically do this.
